WILL BARNET (1911 - 2012)
Jeannette and Eva (Two Sisters).

Charcoal and pencil on cream laid paper, circa 1965. 304x230 mm; 12x9 inches. Signed in charcoal, lower right.

Provenance
Estate of the artist.

  • Notes: The present drawing is a study for Barnet's 1965 oil on canvas Two Sisters. Jeannette and Eva Barnet, the artist's older sisters lived in their childhood home in Beverly, Massachusetts. Barnet was the youngest of his siblings by at least a decade and was the only child in his family born in the United States. Jeannette and Eva formed an insular world within their home, which Barnet explored in his later paintings after the death of Jeannette in 1984.
