Taylor-Burroughs and her husband Charles started the Ebony Museum of Negro History and Art [now the DuSable Museum of African American History] in their living room on the south side of Chicago in 1961. In addition to her career in art, Taylor-Burroughs also taught at DuSable High School, and at the Kennedy-King Community College. Through her work, she sought to speak, "not only for my people, but for all humanity."
