Often referred to as the "godfather of the new illustration," Robert Weaver was among a group of illustrators whose innovative approach to visual storytelling both conveyed information and evoked emotion. Weaver's portrayals of jazz personalities, spanning traditional to bebop, vividly capture the essence of the music.

Bird with Strings features a selection of Charlie Parker's live performances of music with string secction, recorded between 1949 and 1954. These live arrangements mirror those of the studio recordings, but Parker's solos in are notably distinct.
