Eaton's (officially T. Eaton Company Ltd.) was Canada's largest chain of department stores and a beloved national institution. Founded in 1869, the company was that country's first to use a mail-order catalogue, which first appeared in 1884. Although they didn't have stores in France, they did have a buying office in Paris through which they likely commissioned this poster. Caillaud was primarily a fashion photographer, but also had a simple, direct Art Deco sensibility similar to the works of illustrators whose work appeared in La Gazette du Bon Ton. La Femme 207.
