Lee Hall earned her Bachelor of Art degree in 1955 from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro followed by a Masters of Art in art education, 1959 and a PhD in creative arts, 1965 from New York University. She is a published author of several books and an established artist with works in major institutions including The Newark Museum of Art, the Seattle Art Museum, and the Indianapolis Museum of Art. She also taught fine art and held the position of President of Rhode Island School of Design from 1975 until 1983.
