(LEATHER WORKERS)
A suite of 12 early photographs depicting workers in a Boston, Massachusetts leather tannery, many with one leg clothed and one bare.
The insightful images give a brief glimpse into the grueling and taxing work that is leather tanning. Nevertheless, the workers stand proud and dirty, many of them presenting their single bare legs to the photographer's camera. Albumen prints, the images measuring 4 7/8x7 1/8 inches (12.4x18.1 cm.), the mounts 8x10 inches (20.3x25.4 cm.), 5 with the subject's names, in pencil, and all with a Boston, Massachusetts studio hand stamp on mount verso. Circa 1900
