A similar drawing in style and size by Fontebasso, Mucius Scaevola Putting his Hand into the Fire, was offered at Christie's, London, December 12, 1985, lot 267. This drawing also likely relates to two other similar Fontebasso ink and wash drawings: The Continence of Scipio in the Hermitage Museum, Saint Petersburg, and Alexander Mourning the Death of Darius in the Ratjen Collection, Munich.
