(CYANOTYPES/ENGINEERING)
A selection of 20 stunning cyanotypes documenting the construction of a vast trestle bridge in the southern French countryside. Comprising crisp, modernist views of the trestles and spans, many with figures perched in the beams. The images are composed both to fill the frame and in wider perspectives, documenting both the detail and scale of this immense project. Cyanotypes, approximately 8 3/4x11 1/4 inches (22.2x28.6 cm.), a couple slightly larger, and the reverse, most with a date and 2 with the notation Société de Construction des Batignelles, in the negative, and a couple with the date or the location, in pencil, on recto; most with a strip of paper mounted to the top of the print verso. 1899-1902
